Shaman King Series Info and FAQ

Shaman King: The Basics
Shaman King, a manga by Hiroyuki Takei, debuted in the Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan in 1998. According to Shonen Jump, the title has sold over 16 million copies and won Takei the Hop Step Award and Tezuka Award.

Shaman King Anime
The Shaman King anime series started in 2001 and ran for 64 episodes in Japan. Then, 4Kids picked it up and it aired in the US and around the world. No, there is no news about any more episodes and I would say the chance of them making more is about zero.

Shaman King Manga
The last volume (32) of Shaman King was slated for a Dec 3, 2004 release in Japan. I don't know if it was ever released. Anime News Network reported late last year about how the manga was under strain and they weren't going to publish the last volume unless 50,000 people responded.

The manga ended at chapter 285 in Japan. In addition, Takei wrote a few chapters about Yoh and Anna's son, Hana, in the sequel "Funbari no Uta."

The Shaman King manga is currently being published in English in Shonen Jump. As of Sept 2005, they just released volume 7. Check out their online manga section to read Shaman King online .

You can buy the manga at the Viz online store or check your local bookstore.

You can also read fansubs of the manga up to 154 here.

You can read the raws (ie untranslated Japanese) of Funbari no Uta here. (Click on the house bubble on the right to view the "about" section. Links are included there.)

Why Are Your Names/Show Details Different From What I Saw?
This episode guide is based on the original Shaman King tv series that ran in Japan. When 4Kids licenses stuff, they tend not to stay true to the original to make it more kid friendly.

I will not be updating the characters or episode summaries to reflect the edits as there are way too many. (See this site if you're interested.) I prefer to stay true to the original show.

Can I See The Original Versions?
Try the Shaman King DVDs. While Funimation has been extremely slow to release them, they are completely uncut and unedited. The DVDs include the original Japanese dialog with accurate subtitles and a newly recorded and faithfully translated English language track. The first 2 dvds are out.

According to AnimeOnDvd, the next three DVDs are scheduled for a 12/12/2005 release.

DVD 1: A Boy Who Dances With Ghosts
DVD 2: Perfect Possession
DVD 3: Pai Long Attacks
DVD 4: Ryu Is Possessed
DVD 5: Shaman Fight

Otherwise, if you search the web, I'm sure you'll be able to download fansubs of the originals.

Can I See Shaman King Outside the US?
According to the 4Kids website, Shaman King is airing in Europe, Latin America, Mexico and Germany and is scheduled to debut in Italy in September 2005. Check your local listings for show times.

I Have An Idea For An Episode. Where Can I Send It?
This site is in no way affiliated with anyone that creates, produces, or distributes Shaman King.

That said, your chances of pitching your idea to the creators of Shaman King (or any other anime) are zero. These stories are created in Japan years before they air in the rest of the world. Many anime follow the manga and what the manga's creator (called the manga-ka) wrote/drew before. They aren't looking for submissions from others outside the project (particularly, one that ended so long ago.)

I suggest that if you believe strongly in your storyline, you write it out and publish it on Fanfiction.Net. That way, you can share your story with the rest of the world.

Can You Post More Pictures of [insert your request]?
Right now, no. The images I have posted are the only ones I have.

How Did You Create This Website?
I built it. Sorry, there's no magical formula or instantaneous program that just made it. I know html and have programmed a number of websites in the past.

If you're looking for more information on how you can build a website, check out this post I wrote on Animetique.com about creating an anime website.
